About the Opportunity

PHTI is seeking a Senior Director, Market Intelligence to design and build the organizational function responsible for identifying and monitoring the digital health marketplace. Reporting to the Managing Director, Strategic Operations, this individual will lead the strategic design and build of a function that understands the digital health ecosystem, anticipates emerging and growing areas of focus, tracks technological innovation, and monitors funding/mergers and acquisitions activity.

The Senior Director will play a critical role in the PHTI report generation process, both by defining PHTI’s areas of focus and by identifying the potential companies included in PHTI’s future reports. This includes performing in-depth topic area and company diligence to support company selection criteria and assessment category development. The Senior Director will also contribute directly to the report writing process.

The Senior Director will lead PHTI’s outreach and engagement with companies and will support ongoing engagement with venture capital and private equity firms. The Senior Director will be supported by an external agency of economic experts. Through market research, analysis, and external engagement, the Senior Director will be critical in helping to drive the relevance and market impact of PHTI’s reports.

More specifically, the responsibilities include:

Develop a Deep Understanding of the Digital Health Market

  • Oversee the development of a forward-looking digital health tracking and monitoring function.
  • Gain a deep understanding of the digital healthcare market in the US through in-depth company research, external engagement, and market scanning.
  • Identify key areas of digital health innovation (clinical, administrative, and more) and understand trends and areas of future development.
  • Build company-level digital health tracking and monitoring processes, including detailed knowledge of how the companies and technologies work relative to current standard of practice.
  • Partner with healthcare purchasers and providers to understand current and emerging areas for PHTI assessments.
  • Use market monitoring tools, like PitchBook, to create systematized monitoring and analytic functions.

Engage with Companies Under Evaluation

  • Lead PHTI’s engagement process with companies under evaluation to ensure a fair and transparent assessment process.
  • Coordinate efforts to engage with the clinical, product, and commercial segments of companies under evaluation.
  • Oversee company data acquisition and processing strategy.

Create Report Content on Innovative Technologies and Digital Market

  • Leverage research and understanding of the digital healthcare ecosystem to produce company and technology specific components of PHTI’s reports.
  • Clarify the role of the digital health technologies in the clinical or administrative workflow.
  • Provide detailed overviews of the technology category and the companies within the category.
  • Advance PHTI’s brand through critical analyses and bespoke content that helps the healthcare ecosystem (purchasers, providers, patients) to better understand the technology category and make informed trade-off decisions.

Advance PHTI’s Standing with Healthcare Investment Community

  • Serve as a critical link between PHTI and the healthcare investment community.
  • Engage with the investor community to understand funding theses and trends.
  • Advance PHTI’s findings through regular engagements and briefings with healthcare investors to share information about PHTI’s research and findings.
  • Support PHTI’s leadership in executing strategic investor-related initiatives.

Culture and Other Responsibilities

  • Stay current on emerging trends, players, and best practices in digital health, Social Impact and related fields.
  • Support an internal culture of learning and strategic decision making in service of organizational mission.

Professional Experience

  • Experience in management consulting, equity research, healthcare data and analytics, or related experience.
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in healthcare delivery, funding, and financing, healthcare system transformation, and healthcare policy.
  • A bachelor’s degree; advanced degree in business or science or related field preferred.
  • In order to build productive relationships across the organization and to ensure effective collaboration, this role requires in-person presence in accordance with the organization’s hybrid schedule of working in the office three days per week (Monday/Tuesday/Thursday).

Salary and Benefits

We anticipate that the starting base salary range for this position will be $200,000 to $205,000, plus eligibility for an annual discretionary bonus. In addition, we offer a generous benefits package designed to support employee health and well-being, including comprehensive health insurance, a substantial 401k match, paid time off, a hybrid work schedule and other flexible work policies.
