PHTI is assessing digital hypertension management solutions to determine if the solutions deliver clinical and economic benefits. The expected release date for the report is October 28, 2024.

Area overview

In the United States, an estimated 120 million people have hypertension, driving more than $219 billion in annual healthcare expenditures. Among adults diagnosed with hypertension, fewer than 1 in 4 have their hypertension under control.

Hypertension is primarily managed through prescription medications, regular blood pressure monitoring, and behavior changes such as weight loss, a low sodium diet, and exercise.

In recent years, many digital health companies have been launched to support the management of hypertension through improved home blood pressure monitoring, enhanced medication management, and patient self-management support and education. These digital health solutions aim to improve blood pressure control by promoting more active patient engagement in their own care and by supporting patients’ engagement with their care team.

PHTI is assessing digital hypertension management solutions to determine if the solutions deliver clinical benefits and financial savings.
